Season 2021 Match Reports

Round 2

U/15 Girls vs Terrigal Avoca

We played Terrigal  at home in a grand final rematch.

Girls started the game positively and got some nice passages of play which led to Charlotte kicking a couple of nice goals early, the first and second quarter we hit our forward targets well with multiple girls kicking majors. I thought the defensive effort in these quarters was strong and at times the aggression was really good with Tera, Eva, Westy, Carla, BT laying some really hard tackles and bumps.

The third quarter started and we were in full control until the girls forgot our fundamentals and stop competing for the footy and were made to pay as Terrigal kick a couple of nice goals.

4th quarter our girls re took control and kicked a couple of late goals. Final score 73-22
Player of the match went to Carla Edwards for her effort and defence.

Good win girls

U/11 Girls vs Warners Bay

What a great start to the season and our first real game! It was a bit of a historic moment for Bomber’s Youth Girls footy with our first ever YG11s side playing a Hunter team. We got off to a good start against a solid opposition who had some tall players who could mark and kick but our ground work saw us get clear and put on the points.

Our leadership group set a good example and we’re all busy early. And our new players all ripped in and had a go.
We made lots of positional changes and came out in the last quarter half asleep, allowing Warners Bay to kick two quick goals and a point.

But to our credit we rallied and finished with a goal to close out our first win in the Hunter. I could single out every player for praise but it was the strong marking and ball first performance of our little surprise packet Emily who took home the Macca’s award.

Well done girls, your improving every week! Outstanding!
Result win 54-13

U/9s Killarney Vale Red vs Killarney Vale Black

Coach Justin

The Green Pastures of Adelaide St once again played host to our under 9s game.

This week we took on the mighty KV Bombers Black 9s coached by Tim and Mick. Some good old fashion sledging by both sides in the school playground during the week and in the warm up set the the tone for a tough and physical encounter.
As the umpire did  his usual boots check the one liners got louder "your mine", "I'm going to smash you", "bring it on".

Both teams were ready for an old school slug fest. Lucky both Coach Tim and Coach Juice were able to poor cold water over a few hot heads and take control of what looked like turning into a 1980s Blues Vs Pies match. The game had all the hallmarks of a classic under 9s game. Great ruck work, Top shelf marks, unbelievable Kicking, Extremely physical Tackling, And some nice goals.
The sportsmanship shown on the field was commendable by our kids and all the players managed to get there hands on the footy and walk off with smiles on their faces. The highlight was seeing both teams form a big Bombers circle to sing our great Bombers Team Song as one.
This weeks Maccas Awards went to Charlie "The Bear" Pidgeon for some fantastic Team work and Kade ''The Hurricane" Davidson for cleaning up all the loose balls and reading the ruck work superbly.
Well Played Kids.

U/9s Killarney Vale Yellow vs TEBB

Hard day at the office for the kids this week.  With Bateau Bay showing up with 17 kids to our 14, then we lost one to injury in the first quarter.

All kids tried hard all game despite being out numbered by 4 players as Bateau played all 17 kids on the field. Hudson & Emerson both had great games this week, with Hudson getting the players award. Zac and Braxton both playing there first game for the season also had good games. Isla had some good touches in the forward pocket with some nice handballs to open players.

Bateau showed some silky skills and had a few bigger bodies on the field. Killarney Vale however didn’t shy away from the contact making some great tackles throughout the game.
