Round 3
U/11 Girls vs Terrigal Avoca

Mother's Day round is always a special game and we hope all our YG11s Mum's had a fantastic day! I think our girls sure gave you all something to smile about with a comprehensive mercy rule win over our coast rivals Terrigal 92-0.
It was team victory in every sense with every player performing so well in their roles. It was so pleasing to see how far we've come as a group in such a short time and at one point Terrigal's runner said to me "your team has got a good handball game going" which is just fantastic that all that hard work with our over-the-rainbow, out-the-back drills is starting to pay off. We want to make this a big part of how we get depth and width this season.
Our mids also started forming a "wall" when the ball was in our forward line to cover all the exit kicks, which meant our backs were rarely troubled all day. Lily D (two goals), Lani, Kalani (two goals) and Ava came out firing after playing a heap of footy on Friday representing the Mid North Coast in the all schools carnival at Blacktown. Emma was strong in center half-forward, Zeva (one goal) and Sophia (two goals) showed a ball-first mentality and twins Oceane and Xanthe kept working hard all day.
Maddie (one goal), Olivia and Isla nailed our focus of the week in grappling and disrupting the footy when the opposition had the ball. Our quiet achiever in Zara got a heap of possessions (including a great goal!), Lily B was at the bottom of every pack and Daisy was busy all day and rewarded with a number of touches. But it was Elisha who discovered running with the footy and had what I call a "break through" game, kicking two goals in the process! It was like you could see a switch went off in her mind and she just "got" what AFL was all about and took home the well-deserved Maccas award.
All in all I could not be happier with where we're at in this early stage of the season. Last but not least I have to give a big mention to our two girls who were promoted into the 13s in Scarlett and Aleera. They played their hearts out against a much bigger Bateau side and never looked out of place. Great stuff!

U/9s Killarney Vale Red vs Killarney Vale Yellow

This week it was a all bomber affair down at Bomber Park, with Killarney Vale Yellow v Killarney Vale Red.
I was really impressed with how Austin, Hudson & Emerson linked up on numerous occasions coming out of our backline. Georgina again had a great game, this little girl is not afraid to get involved with the boys at all. The whole team in general had a great game and did extremely well considering they were playing against a really well coached Killarney Vale Red team that has played together for a few years now. Special mention to Lenny (Hippo) Brown for playing up from Auskick and giving his big brother and his mates problems all game.
